Also in the interview, it starts off with some talk about his son and his surgery etc. Of course we all wish him the best, but has anyone ever considered that the deal may have been a result of DF realizing that his family is his priority and this deal is his exit strategy to make enough $ to get his son the best care possible?

Or at least it gives him less to worry about and more time to spend concentrating on getting his son healthy.
