OGC: Right, so it may be the hedge funds that are unloading any leftovers at a profit into the market...

My point was that it's not just the index fund houses that buy prior to addition of the stock into the index. It doesn't hurt the owners of the index funds whether the underlying stocks go up or down, so I think they would typically only buy at the last minute (day or 2 prior thru day or 2 after).

That said, it's not clear how much hedge funds get involved in small non-US companies.

Speaking of Healthcare, aren't you glad all doctors don't lick their fingers? ;>)
