Just came up with another stupid idea. Keeping in mind the ticker model. How about utilizing GOIG to implement discount coupons for retailers. For us poor people that love discounts but wont take the time to clip coupons in the paper or print them off the company websites.
Scenario:
I am at J.C. Penneys and buy a bunch of stuff. Before I go to the checkout register, I text J.C. Penneys to GOIG. I get a call back and listen to a 1 minute advertisement about whatever J.C. Penney's wants me to hear. At the end of the message they give me a coupon code that I tell to the cashier which gives me an additional 20% off my purchase. One would say you can do the same thing with a 100% text based short code. Problem with that is I can ignore the return text and advertising message the company wants me to know, and go right to the coupon code. With a voice based return phone call I have to listen to the whole message to get the coupon code. I am happy to spend that minute listening for an extra 10% to 20% off.
