However I think you are understating just how much control can be excersised over a high society. We are already there. Look how much money the big pharmaceutical companies make. Those drugs are being consumed by you, and the guy to the left and right of you. Ever stop and wonder how many people get in their cars and drive around on all sorts of addictive meds? How many people go to work like that? How many do just about everything else like this? All you need is a t.v set on somewhere and you can captivate most people for a good period of time, long enough to pull of whatever you want to hood wink them with because no one is really paying any attention to what's really going on. They want to watch, "Reality TV".
We are so cought up in a "high society" already it is a joke. And guess who is laughing, China, India, and a whole bunch of others that sit back in the shadows watching, waiting, for the time to move in and a pounce.
