Press Release Source: Tri-Valley Corporation On Tuesday May 11, 2010, 6:30 am EDT

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tri-Valley Corporation (NYSE Amex: TIV) today announced the re-start of production on five existing wells in the Racetrack Hill Area of the Edison Field near Bakersfield, California in eastern Kern County.

Two additional existing wells in the area are expected to re-start production following the completion of repairs by the end of June 2010. Tri-Valley holds a 100% working interest and an 87.5% net revenue interest on the three parcel leasehold known as the Claflin Lease.

The Claflin Lease was evaluated earlier this year by an independent petroleum engineer who estimates that the total gross proved reserves are 2.3 million barrels (100%) and that Tri-Valley’s interest in these proved oil reserves is 2.0 million barrels (87.5%).
answer;
barrels (87.5%). / great ownership as most of their assets.

The reserves are contained in two productive oil zones located at relatively shallow depths ranging between 650 and 750 feet subsurface. Per well production rates from these same two zones on acreage adjacent to Claflin average 15 barrels per day and Tri-Valley expects to generate similar production from the seven wells.

answer;
maybe drill deeper to get more output?

“The re-start of production at Claflin represents a significant operational milestone for Tri-Valley for several reasons,” stated Maston Cunningham, President & CEO. “First, by the end of June, we expect to be generating gross production of approximately 100 barrels per day, which should significantly improve our second quarter top line performance, especially considering our large ownership interest in Claflin.

answer;
again ownership mentioned.

Second, we expect to further increase daily production through the introduction of cyclic steam injection into some of these seven wells later this month.

Third, the re-start validates the investment we are planning for the drilling of 20 new wells at Claflin under permits already received from the California Department of Oil & Gas and Geothermal Resources.

answer;
getting permits fer new wells / 20 additional ones.

Our goal for the 27 wells is to exit 2010 with gross production of 400 barrels per day. If we are successful at achieving this goal, revenue from this production should enable our operations to generate cash,” Mr. Cunningham concluded.

answer;

Mission Statement;

The core mission of Tri-Valley Corporation is to increase the value and liquidity of Tri-Valley stock and build the wealth of our investors. To fulfill this mission, we have developed a tightly defined business strategy. This strategy is to identify, obtain, and exploit exploration projects of exceptional size where exploration, discovery, and operational success can substantially grow the intrinsic value of the company and market value of its stock. [-chart]www.tri-valleycorp.com/images/PJD07.jpg[-/chart]

We also strive to incorporate a “team” approach in order to achieve strong operating and financial results while maintaining high standards of social, economic, and environmental responsibility.

Subsidiaries

Tri-Valley has five subsidiaries and four operating segments/business lines:

[-chart]www.tri-valleycorp.com/images/tri-valley-corp-logo.jpg[-/chart]

Tri-Valley Oil & Gas Company (“TVOG”) operates the oil & gas activities. TVOG derives the majority of its revenue from oil and gas sales. TVOG primarily generates its own exploration prospects, but also screens prospects from other geologists and companies. TVOG generates these geological “plays” within a certain geographic area of mutual interest. The prospect is then presented to potential co-ventures. The company deals with both accredited individual investors and energy industry companies. TVOG serves as the operator of these co-ventures. TVOG operates both the oil and gas production segment and the drilling and development segment of our business lines.

Select Resources Corporation (Select) was created in late 2004 to manage, grow and operate Tri-Valley’s mineral interests.

[-chart]www.tri-valleycorp.com/images/select-resc.jpg[-/chart]

Select is dedicated to generating wealth through exploration, development, and production of a variety of mineral resources. Select is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tri-Valley Corporation, and Tri-Valley is providing the initial financing and has transferred its mineral properties to Select. These mineral properties include two gold exploration projects totaling 60 square miles in Alaska, a world class high-grade calcium carbonate mine in Alaska, and several base metal exploration properties in Nevada.

On December 31, 2008, the SEC issued Release No. 33-8995 amending its oil and natural gas reporting requirements for oil and natural gas producing companies. The effective date of the new accounting and disclosure requirements is for annual reports filed for fiscal years ending on or after December 31, 2009. Among other things Release No. 33-8995:

* We are not allowed to include reserves from tar sands until 2009.

NATURAL GAS;

[-chart]www.tri-valleycorp.com/images/topimg_sec.jpg[-/chart]

Production & Reserves Overview

excerpt;

Tri-Valley holds both producing and exploration acreage for natural gas. Current production is modest as the company has focused on oil in recent years, but natural gas activity is now being included in Tri-Valley’s 2007 projects. While production has declined over the past three years, reserves have increased and Tri-Valley expects this trend to continue as it begins drilling prospects in its Great Valley Ranch Gas Complex, which is thought to hold a potential in the range of 500 billion cubic feet.

We have retained the services of Cecil Engineering, an independent petroleum engineer qualified to estimate our net share of proved developed and undeveloped oil and gas reserves on all of our oil and gas properties at December 31, 2008 for SEC filing. For 2008, our independent engineer prepared an oil and gas reserve report using guidelines established by the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission for valuation of oil and gas reserves.

Natural Gas Production

The following table sets forth the net quantities of natural gas that we produced during:

2008 Natural Gas (MCF) 102,070
2007 Natural Gas (MCF) 45,928
2006 Natural Gas (MCF) 86,177

Natural Gas Reserves

Our estimated future net recoverable natural gas reserves from proved developed properties were as follows:

December 31, 2008 Natural Gas (MCF) 695,931
December 31, 2007 Natural Gas (MCF) 791,128
December 31, 2006 Natural Gas (MCF) 787,017

- Richardson---Net Acres 27,926

REVIEW EXCERPT;

Select’s industrial mineral project consists of the Admiral calcium carbonate quarry in Alaska. The Admiral Quarry was obtained in 2005 from Sealaska Corporation. It is located on the north-west side of Prince of Wales Island, approximately 150 (air) miles south of Juneau and 88 (air) miles northwest of Ketchikan. The quarry consists of drilled high chemical grade, high brightness and high whiteness mineralized material, and is considered to be in the top 1% of high grade, high white, high bright, CaCO3 deposits in the world. “Mineralized material” means a mineralized body, which has been delineated by appropriately spaced drilling and/or underground sampling to support a sufficient tonnage and average grade of metals.

We have obtained a preliminary estimate on the quarry from M. J. Bright, independent registered professional geologist, which identifies high grade to ultra high grade (+94% to +98% CaCO3), high brightness (+95 GE Brightness @ -325 mesh) calcium carbonate mineralized material in place. The purchase also includes all associated infrastructure and equipment that the previous owner installed at a cost exceeding $20 million. The current quarry covers only 15 acres; but the entire property covers 572 acres of patented mining ground, and includes all operating permits and tideland leases approximately one half of all of which are still active. Less than 10% of the gross acreage has been explored and geologic mapping suggests additional resources exist on the property. Select currently has plans and is pursuing methods to monetize the property, by any combination of 1) redevelopment of the quarry; 2) outright sale or lease; 3) joint venture of some form. During the current economic downturn, Select will hold the property while Select pursues this and other previously identified opportunities. Select also owns the timber rights on the acreage and believes that value alone could repay the cost of acquisition of the property.

In 2006, Select arranged to evaluate some 200 industrial mineral properties in Nevada from the inventory of Newmont Mining Corporation. Select had the option to negotiate exploration and development opportunities it chooses from this inventory. Select did not find any properties that fit its corporate needs, and this project was concluded.

In 2007, Select conducted maintenance and repair activity at Calder and obtained an updated status of the facility. In conjunction with this Select began contacting potential parties to monetize this property.

In 2008, Select conducted a second maintenance and repair activity at Calder and obtained an updated status of the facility. During this season, equipment was operated and small batches of material processed to various extents. In conjunction with this Select continued contacting and began discussions with potential parties to monetize this property. Select also retained the services on a confidential basis of a national expert for further evaluation of the quarry. That report is quite favorable to product desirability and operational characteristics.

History

In 1987, Tri-Valley Corporation acquired precious metalsclaims on Alaska state lands. We have conducted exploration operations on 250 square miles of the Richardson area and about 15 square miles of the Livengood area, and we have selected a final block of approximately 28,720 acres (44.9 square miles at Richardson and 11 square miles at Shorty Creek). Select’s mineral propertiesinclude approximately 56 square miles of claims surrounding areas of known gold and gold/copper mineralization in two areas of the Tintina Gold Belt of Alaska which currently hosts more than 30 million ounces of gold. Select has also acquired a developed high grade, high brightness calciumcarbonate (limestone) property with significant infrastructure in South-East Alaska near Ketchikan.
GOLD & Calcium Carbonate Mine

[-chart]www.tri-valleycorp.com/images/goldbar-new.gif[-/chart]

Select Resource Corporation, the mineral division of Tri-Valley Corporation, was formed in November 2004 with the intent to advance and grow the mineral assets of Tri-Valley and monetize the assets so that Tri-Valley Corporation and its shareholders could be diversified and benefit from more than just Tri-Valley’s oil and gas assets.

In 2005, Tri-Valley transferred its existing gold exploration properties (Richardson and Shorty Creek) to Select Resources. Select has conducted trenching, core drilling, bulk sampling and assaying activities on its gold properties, and have reason to believe that sufficient mineralization exists to justify additional exploration activities. Management believes these properties hold considerable promise based on historic and current Tri-Valley/Select and third party exploration.

ALASKA MAP;

[-chart]www.tri-valleycorp.com/images/AK%20Minerals.gif[-/chart]

Also in 2005, Select acquired a calcium carbonate mine (Admiral Mine), located northwest of Ketchikan, Alaska. The Admiral Mine is a very high grade, high bright deposit deemed to be among the top 1% of such deposits in the world. The mine is in a care and maintenance mode while Select organizes a customer base before restarting the mine.
