Even assuming 1%, I find it hard to understand why interest income in CHBT and CCME is so low

for chbt - interest income according to last 10q is 87,876 on a cash and cash equivalents balance in excess of 150m through the quarter. That translates to interest of about 0.2% or something like that.

for ccme - interest income according to last 10q is about 84,000 on cash and cash equivalents average balance of 125m. Slightly better, but still very low interest income.

Any company with that kind of cash balance surely has to at the minimum put it in short term deposits of 1month, 3 month etc and earn some money on it! 0.2% is a horrible return on cash.
