A longer term trial will be key to determine whether indeed recaf testing confirms whether the person still has cancer. I know breast cancer is tricky, as many people get recurrences many years after treatment/surgery. However, presumably there are some subsets of breast cancer in which the decay curve is more clear.

Further, in a case like colorectal cancer, there is a very clear link between time elapsed since surgery and reduced likelihood of recurrence. The problem is that CEA, which is typically used after surgery, is riddled with false positives and negatives, somewhat like PSA. And so, negative CEA results do not seem to affect the staging of colon cancer, and hence the treatment protocol.

If, on the other hand, recaf could tell shortly after surgery whether the surgeon "got it all", think of the thousands of stages I II or III patients who could avoid needless chemo, radiation and especially anxiety for 5 years as they await the final all clear.

If recaf could do this, we are talking about a billion dollar company FOR SURE.
