I can totaly agree because I grew up in a stiff neck true southern Baptist church.

And that is a HUGE problem. Why I believe change can be good.
In fact that is why in the beginning the change started.
But i think we need to be careful not to change so much that we have to look, smell, act like the world to bring the gospel to the world.

As you noted what is the motive behind the change?

That is the BOTTOM LINE! BINGO!

Just like we don't truly know the motive behind the video.

they have gotten to a celebrity status.

For most people they see it as the TV preachers when they hear those words.

What I have experienced first hand is not even to that big of church but a 4K size church where the bottom line for power, career, etc was wrapped around the changes all in the name of becoming seeker friendly.

I know this is an unpopular subject because some might say discussing this might turn people away from the church.

I can see that thought process.

On the flip side the sooner they see that Christians are human and battle the same temptations I think the better, as there is no perfect church as the old saying goes if there was you and I wouldn't be in it.

So change for me needs to be looked at by all angles when a church changes.

Is the change to truly glorify God by carrying out his commission?

Or is the change to have the fancy pants church with all the money going into the sound systems, video machines every where, large entries, hallways, matching this and that, you know what I'm getting at going into debt instead of the budget having enough money left for doing God's will it was keeping up with the Jones having the AWE FACTOR when you walked in the place. and believe me it was there when you walked in that building.

Thanks for the discussion!
