It's possible for company to gain market share and lose money at the same time. One often comes at the expense of the other. I think they call it dumping in the memory business.

Two problems with this... 1) true "dumping" usually leads to sactions and penalties from the SEC (generally not in time to prevent the damage being done, though), 2) Craig Barrett indicated that Intel's MSS was the highest it had been in 4 years (see my earlier post) in the earnings announcement.

So any posts about AMD gaining share are either extremely focused on very narrow market segments, or are dead wrong.
