Moors and Cabot notes that industry sources have confirmed to them that AMD continues to have yield problems with its MirrorBit 256 Meg Flash chip. Firm believes that the co is currently shipping the 40 MHz speed 256 Meg product, buy not at the 80 MHz speeds required for the next generation of wireless handsets EDGE and 3G. They believe flash problems at AMD are compounding as ASPs continue to be under pressure, mgmt's positioning of Spansion (AMD's Flash unit) for sale or spin-off is accelerating mkt share losses, and now the 80 MHz problem cuts off the co's opportunity to maintain share in the wireless market (roughly half of Spansion sales). Reits Sell and $10 tgt.
