BALA CYNWYD, Pa. -- A Montgomery County community is in a state of disbelief after a sixth-grade boy died from complications from the flu.

The 11-year-old Bala Cynwyd Middle School student died Monday and now the school is reaching out to concerned parents.
Letters were sent out to parents Tuesday, informing them of what happened.
School officials say it is an isolated incident and that parents should not be alarmed about a possible flu outbreak or epidemic.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is recommending however that people who are in a high health risk category, those 55 and older, pregnant women, and the immuno-compromised, who have had social contact with student see their physician for preventive medication.
Counselors will be at the school Wednesday to help staff and students deal with the loss.
The Montgomery County School District is calling the child's death a tragedy and officials are offering their deepest condolences to the family.
A public forum for concerned parents will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bala Cynwyd Middle School and health officials will be on hand to answer any questions.
