Volume of deliveries rose in both the company’s trucking division, and its “intermodal” transportation services unit.
Pricing in freight trucking improved “significantly” in the quarter, JB Hunt said, rising 8.3% from April to June, the company said.
Stripping out fuel surcharges, revenue rose 16%, year over year.
“Demand for transportation services has increased fairly dramatically as we have emerged from a multi-year freight recession,” said JB Hunt CEO Kirk Thompson.
JB Hunt’s results follow a better-than-expected Q2 report yesterday by Landstar Systems (LSTR).
