drone: Did your deal for MOT phones require a one or two-year service contract? The carriers make huge profit on such contracts, especially if you send pictures or use other add-on services. Hop-on is aiming at selling directly to the consumer, who can then use the unlocked phone to choose a carrier. Certainly, Wireless Xcesseries sells to retailers who then sell to retail customers, avoiding the long service contracts. Hop-on also sells to the prepaid market, where relatively cheap phones for relatively cheap service are needed.
