Nearly all DVD's are already copy-protected(Macrovision) so you do not have to convince anyone of the merrits of doing so, simply present them with a better mousetrap. By now it should be obvious that Macrovisions copy-protection scheme for DVD's is remarkably easy to overcome, just do a google search for "DVD ripper program" and see how many hits you turn up.
Secondly, Macrovision is not beloved by the Movie industry.
