These kind of suits can chill free speech. What that means is this. LGTT puts out a flashy PR stating they have the goods on message board posters and are going to sue them for $5 million for "bashing" the company. They say they reserve the right to add more names to the list. This threatening behavior chills free speech by intimidating online critics from speaking out about the company or Mr. Evans himself.
The EFF article, I believe, is just a message to Greg that shows his case to be weak, frivolous and without merit as it currently sits in regards to the anonymous posters. Explaining that moving forward would likely just embarrass himself and his attorney.
And the EFF was nice enough to explain that if Greg goes to California trying to get personal info from Yahoo accounts that he better bring his checkbook because Anti-SLAPP laws in California would require him to pay the legal fees of each and every defendant in that case if a quash motion was successful.
