Agree with you 100%. What's sad though is that most people don't know elementary chemistry to understand what an ion is and how it works on the most basic level to react with other ions. The advertisement is difficult in the sense that they can't really explain to the general public how it works because the general public won't understand it, but what they CAN do is stop using "negative ions" as their campaign slogan/phrase to explain how the bulb works, but rather simply state that it filters the air by neutralizing odors. The "why" doesn't really matter. I, as a consumer, am not interested in the "how it works", let's leave that up to the public to decide whether or not they care. They should focus on using strategies that get the public's attention.
