Yes, most certainly the new logo is for dual processors since there's no real basis for mass adaptation to 64 bits (it's just going to happen, and, as I stated a long time ago, 64 bits will be free). After all, although there is certainly a way to look at the new logo as representative of "64", I suspect that the inventor was delighted to find this out, too. Or maybe it happened the other way around...

What I do predict is a massive campaign around dual core in the attempt to convert the entire base to dual core (after all, all dual core products should easily surpass performance of all single core products and at the same time highly increase the availability of processor to process) and precipitate a renewal in consumer and business PC buying. I expect that this will be done like no one except Intel is capable of doing. Pulling in the schedules was most likely critical to assuming the lead in this new campaign with both first availability and then first to volume production. This fits nicely with O's new leadership position and background or, what he knows best. What better way to start off and what better way to use massive amounts of cash.

I also expect that it will be one of the more successful Intel campaigns and will indeed create a demand for Intel products that will be unsurpassed in recent history. The dual core campaign will layer nicely over the new platform strategy. Platform are, themselves, not enough to create a "Paradigm Shift". Within the next two years I would think that this will be the "next new thing" everyone has been looking for. After that, Longhorn will be the icing on the cake!

Smooth

<Maybe I should go back to Intel marketing to make sure they pull this off correctly> :)
