The IR email was from last week so how do we know if the money for Newby isn't secured now.

How do you know Dean didn't give his approval for the naming of Cross as the CEO? First off, Mineseeker isn't closed yet but the fact Quasar announced this appointment pretty much confirms Dean knew of it and approved it. Secondly, just because we will have a controlling interest in Mineseeker doesn't automatically mean we will be calling the shots. The truth is we don't have a clue what this stake gives Quasar other than 51% of the profits.

People also seem to conveniently forget Kendrick has repeatedly confirmed the relationship with Quasar. That's enough for me.
