Same exact problem. Many plastics contain large percentages of oxygen and other compounds. Even if the alkane chain lengths of the hydrocarbons are optimized, nobody will be able to sell pyrolysis oil to a refinery with those compounds.

Soybeans will be about 40% elemental oxygen and mixed plastic will be about 25% elemental oxygen. In that respect plastic is better by almost a factor of two over soybeans but still too ridiculously far off to make it useful.

And again, hydrocarbon-only plastic can be used like Mr. Bordynuik suggested but then the feedstock plastic will cost more than the pyrolysis oil would sell for even if it's diesel or crude oil.
