Optimizing Mac OS X on a G4 Mac Mini

1. Re-Format a Mac Mini with at least Two Partitions

2. Install Mac OS X Panther on the first or Primary partition and remove the Foreign Language localizations you don't use.

3. Use a Software called Swap Cop to have the swap file save to a partition other than the primary one with the Mac Operating System.

4. Use either Cocktail or Onyx to tweak or disable the various setting that you don't need.

5. Download and install an Optimized G4 build of FireFox.

6. Run only Mac OS X native applications .... when possible. Carbon and Classic applications bogs the system down.

The end result will be a wicked fast and stable system that will outperform a stock Mac Mini by 10 - 15 percent. The secret ingredient is saving the swap file to another partition.

This will work on any G4 system running system 10.2 or higher with 512 MB of Ram or higher.
