The bold fish and game they did part of the write up on the facebook discussion page. Look at the quotation marks.

"The Columbia River has long been known for its tremendous salmon runs, at one time likely second to none anywhere in the world. However, beginning in the 1930's, its waters were increasingly dammed to provide hydroelectricity, flood control, navigation, and water for irrigation. Many of these dams were built with fish ladders in an attempt to preserve the runs of salmon and Steelhead. To determine whether these measures worked, these ladders were equipped with fish counting rooms with a window that gave a side-view of fish passing up and down fish ladders. A human counter would then be stationed inside the room to identify and count passing fish. Fish ladders, by and large, proved to work but the counts proved so useful for management purposes that the counting continues to this day. At many dams, video cameras now record on to DVRs or computers rather than have on-site counters. The video record is then reviewed at a later date. Advances in underwater video cameras and lighting have also made it possible to put cameras in at weirs (fences built across the river). These counts, and the trends they reveal, are an important part of salmon management.

Homeland Security Corporation’s underwater cameras are optionally included in the FishTick fish counting system developed by Salmonsoft. This system detects and records images of fish onto a computer file which can then be reviewed. As part of the review process, spreadsheets are created giving individual fish passage data as well as summaries of passage by date and time. The FishTick system is used in Europe as well as North America, with HSCC cameras used in both the Columbia River and New England for the last several years"

That sound like a satisfied customer to me. Does it sound like a satisfied customer to anyone else" lol

The rest was written by HSCC

HSCC is supplying hi-resolution 600 TV Line specialized underwater camera systems and recorders to the Oregon and Idaho Department of Fish and Game for the purpose of supplying pertinent data to the department on how many and what species of fish are currently in the Columbia River, the counts of these different species are based on what the camera systems record and much more. HSCC supplies the cameras and digital video recorders so they can make accurate counts based on the recorded data. The counts are based on how many fish come through the gates of the test facility every hour and mathematical calculations are made based on those recorded numbers of each species that comes through. This data benefits the Department of fish and game so they can make informed decisions on conservation, these endangered species, health of the fish and much more. The systems have been in place for over two years with more cameras being added to increase the data captured. Innovations with video compression and mathematical algorithm programs will make the collection and recording of data automated.
