That makes sense. Its all about operating cost and the area that needs to be covered at a required level of resolution. Its all about the trade off of Signal to Noise. Some users may need resolution to just 1 foot which can be obtained with a quite flyover, while others may need finer resolution to say 1" to better discern the type of mine (or rock or clod of clay).

There have been great advances at using software to filter out the noise (vibrations and EM radiation) produced from a helicopter. I guess that's what this demonstration was hoping to prove.

I still don't know why the airship wasn't used more over the past decade, if the need is so dire.
