hitimer: I would expect that the conversion to FPGA and the release of technical info will pretty much coincide. After all, that will be when they know the actual parameters of the technology.

Interestingly, there are some tasty tidbits in some of the other Q&A responses. Somewhere they very clearly say that the technology will be several hundred times faster than dialup. If we take "several" to mean at least 3, then we are talking about a minumum of 17Mbps - significantly more than I expected from an initial product.
