The vapor launch of the XP2400 and XP 2600 was done prematurely, I believe, in order to coincide with the 3rd anniversary of the Athlon. It was purely a marketing ploy. 2400s are starting to trickle in, but 2600s are still MIA.

I have no doubt that with the new "B" stepping, there are yield problems and possibly binsplit problems as well, but these are to be expected with a new stepping that contains significant changes.

To me, the real issue is that AMD is behind the performance curve, and they are trying to get caught up with PR (public relations - not the other PR). I do believe that they will get the Tbred "B" stepping ramped up nicely, but I am disappointed that they "released" them before they had volume parts simply for the press.
