Plz explain to me how SevereBurn impacts p2p usage?

I can easily understand how a legal online source such as iTunes could use SevereBurn to encode downloaded tunes with copy-protection but the p2p sites are not legal distributors of copyrighted material and have no reason and in fact every reason not to use SevereBurn technology.
