modest ability to entrain the endogenous circadian oscillator



For those interested in melatonin for treating jet-lag or delayed (or advanced) sleep phase, what I've read indicates there is a three to four hour window in which it can advance or delay the circadian rhythm. If you take it approximately 12 hours before current mid-sleep (about 3 hours before DLMO) then it advances the cycle, and taken 12 hours later it delays it.
