sshave,

Re: "For the record, the AMD spokesman used the words "constrained by normal yields".
Never was the word "problems" used ... Finally, for the record, I am not
trying to claim that AMD is not having yield or manufacturing problems. At least
for SOI, I believe it is clear that they are."

Hmmmmm ... First you give ("for the record") an AMD spokesman using the term "constrained
by normal yields", then you go on ("for the record") to state you believe that for
SOI that AMD is having a "yield or manufacturing problem". Are you "related" to Yogi ??!! <ggg>

As SemiconEng points out, a "constraint" is usually a problem that limits you from achieving
an objective. The statement: "constrained by normal yields", means to me that
yields are not high enough to achieve AMD's objective. Their objective I believe
is to provide CPU in volume and make a profit.

As pointed out in my post, I used the terminalogy of "yield problem", because this
is what the 'Roids on SI seemed to be concerned about -->

I have also for some time reported that the industry at .13um is having
a yield problem with LowK dielectrics. This has been completely ignored and
now seems to be much closer to the truth than those just "brushing" this information
aside. It seems to me that those ignoring data and posting that everything is "rosy",
are the true "Fudsters".
