APC owns 25% of the well...is that correct?

Does BP own the other 75% or some majority. Who was running the show? BP was. I am not sure how liability could potentially change since BP and presumably Transocean were drilling the well and therefore in charge of the daily operations. What input does a 25% owner have? These are all unknown. If I were APC i'd start arguing this point now. BP was in charge of execution of tapping the resource.

Taking this once step further, I've heard many argue that the 20B that BP put into escrow is somehow a cap on their liability or could be potentially argued in court as such. If this is true, then by proxy, APC could be limited to only 5B. What is the worse case scenario? 100B over the next 20 years?

So APC at max could be liable for 25B over the next 20 years...or only 1.25B per year....enough to force them into BK?
