I agree with most of what the article talks about. BP has blown-it on so many fronts that it is just pathetic. When they cut the riser off, it was evident on the hi-res video that there are two pipes inside the 21". The 5" drill pipe and an 8" surface conductor. I don't know why thet don't put a 30" inflatable, outside packer on the flange, and stop both pipes from flowing outside the containment apparatus. They wouldn't want to let it pressure-up too much for fear of blowing-out down hole, but at least they could contain all of the oil until the relief wells take over.
