There are all sorts of Solar Cells.
Thin Film is the next generation
of Solar Tech. You can read about
solar film on building windows,
solar tiles on roofs to blend in
so well you wouldn't know there
was solar in them, spray on solar
for glass, and things I have not
heard of yet.

We can expect Solterra to be there
too. If we can mass produce solar,
on a transparent film, it is possible
today to increase the efficiency
using photonic crystals within the
film and at the same time increase
the efficiency of the solar cell.
TQD are already efficient with MEG -
Multiple Exciton Generation, and if
photonic crystals can increase the
efficiency, well, it is multiplied
by MEG. IMHO! of course.

Solterra is perfectly situated with
inkjet printers to print on any
substrate that will work. I have read
that Prof. Wong is working on adhering
TQD to substrates. Part of that ability
is in the encapsulating, helping to
increase the flow of electrons and the
adherence of the cells to the bottom
layer. It is possible that the encapsulating
can be the glue to adhere to a transparent
bottom substrate layer. Of course, it has to
be capable of conducting the flow of electrons.

It is my theory that the smaller size of
QMC TQD is an advantage in many ways.
1. easy to manufacture because smaller.
2. more can fit in a certain area, and
3. more produce more electrons than fewer
4. for transparent solar cells, photonic
crystals could replace some of the TQD
maintaining the efficiency but increasing
transparancy. A win-win because it creates
the possibility of new applications.

Remember those buses I talk about
with the vinyl siding advertising
the museum or a movie? It would be
possible to have the advertisement
and over it a transparent layer of
solar cells powering the electrical
motors of the bus. With the ads paying
the cost of manufacture, free energy,
using advertising credits instead of
carbon credits! LOL!
