Subscribers are aware we've been casting about for more companies to add to our coverage universe, but haven't had much luck. We typically spend a few weeks working up a company. If things look OK, we'll contact management, debut the company in the coverage universe, and very likely add them to our Model Portfolio.
When we find something amiss, we usually just put the company into a file and watch until what we think is amiss gets fixed. For really egregious companies or when the market is really missing something (Geron, Northfield, BioPure, Cell Genesys, etc.), we'll work some of our research into our commentary.
Peregrine doesn't fall into the cohort of the companies mentioned above, but it isn't ready for our coverage attentions, either. So why did we write about it instead of file it away with all the others? We thought it was a good chance to show why we file some companies and a teaching opportunity for how just because you spend lots of time doing due diligence, you don't owe yourself or the company any of your investment capital.
We also make important updates to our revenue projections for Dendreon's (DNDN) Provenge as well as our share price expectations into 2011. The update covers 11 pages.
