Another angle to consider is from the business owner. My fav example is the local Pizza shop. Owner adds "or text PIZZA to 46800" to all his ads (including the to-go menu) right under the phone number. Now any potential buyer reading this knows they can text PIZZA to 46800 and be connected to place their to-go order.
They don't have to use or even know the phone number.
Business owner just made it easier for perhaps a first time customer. That customer likes the pie, and now either puts number in speed dial or texts PIZZA next time, either way, new satisfied, future customer, thanks to go800. Doesn't matter if is a "smart" phone or not.
It may not be for the regular customer that already has the # in their contacts or for a customer that is searching for different options.
When a person sees the ad, they now have a quicker and easier way to place their Pizza to go.
