The FDA's website even describes the purpose of these advisory committees: "Purpose: The Committee reviews and evaluates data concerning the safety and effectiveness of marketed and investigational diagnostic or therapeutic radiological and nuclear medicine devices and makes appropriate recommendations to the Commissioner of Food and Drugs."

Doesn't say anything about reviewing and approving 510(k) applications. Come on, Doc, that's weak.
