For what it's worth, I believe there will be speed/feed results shared with NVI investors and the world at large before year-end, possibly by mid-November. The initial Maine Telco "test" was not done with the FPGA, it was conducted with a wave form generator that NVI's techs pumped their line-code through. The next test will use the FPGA, or a PC, and the results of that test (trial if you will) will yield published results - for sure. The first time NVI puts the numbers our there in black and white, the supporting documentation has to be perfect; there is only one chance to make a good first impression with your target audience (the engineers @ the box makers and telcos). NVI will have a box maker at their side during the "carrier trial". NVI is making this first product (prototype) to appeal to very specific stated needs of multiple box makers (i.e. Alcatel). They are not shooting in the dark. Although I will also say that they have built a ton of flexibility into this first design (multiple sources confirm that).

I expect no less than 20Mbs and no shorter distances than 4-5000', for the first commercial/business (MTU) application ASIC. This is a sweet-spot for many box makers as it allows them to deliver three (3) 5 Mbs channels with plenty of excess overhead, and that is exactly what NVI's potential customers (the box makers) are telling them they need, and will buy, based upon the needs and wants of their customers (the telcos, i.e. SBC).

So, yes, I expect with a 99.999 percent probability (IMO) that speed and feed rates will be published in black and white before year-end, and possibly 4-6 weeks beforehand. I know for a fact (and was told it was ok to say so) that NVI is passing around a draft of their initial tech document (call it a White-paper) internally. It is at this moment internal only, but I was told it is a living document (dynamic) and it will be the basis of what is shared with the outside world in the coming months (with new data added after the more extensive trials, using the FPGA) in Oct. early Nov.

Money will dictate how much sooner before year end the data rates are published, as money determines how fast the work gets done and the next phase of testing begins. However, even without additional funding, the work is progressing at such a rate that completing the prototype by yr end is not in doubt (and that means data, that we can sink our teeth into, will come with it).

Gotta run - have a good weekend.
