Not necessarily true. I worked for a large pharmaceutical company "Cardinal Health" who changed their logo and entire branding as they were growing. Went from $500Mil a year to $4Bil a year in revenue.

Their original logo had a cardinal head as part of their logo. The new logo removed the bird entirely. Now just a very clean logo with just the words "cardinal health".
