I'm confused about the site status, and right now I'm having a hard time accessing the site which may be due to my laptop temporarily.

Is it still the case that there are a number of videos that play in full and also a a number that only play short previews, and do we have any idea about what percentage those seem to be? People are talking like everything is a preview and I don't believe that's at all the case.

It seems to me they would have a pretty hard time attracting paid memberships if most of their videos would be 30 second previews prior to potential purchase.

I mean, although record companies seem to be slowly clamping down, anybody's 5 year old kid can get a video to pretty much any song they want for free on youtube, and watch it on a portable media device as well. And though on music matrix you get social networking, that's also completely free on an absolute myriad of sites and you can always post and discuss all the videos and music you want on Facebook, Twitter, etc.. They are going to have to do something to attract paying customers besides an opportunity to put together the new Maino video for goodness sake. Isn't there video editing shareware out there availble for free as well, and don't people use that to edit videos and post them just fine on youtube without musicmatrix's help?

So here's the real question up for discussion: Why will people come to music matrix to watch videos they can already see elsewhere on the net for free, especially if the vids are only in preview? Is there a suggestion videos will be available at Musicmatrix that won't be available elsewhere? Is there any suggestion paying members will be able to watch the videos in full (now there's an idea). Maybe that vids will be higher res than youtube? Is it the idea that you might be able to interact with your favorite artist? In that case we'd need some assurance or evidence that those artists are actually using the site. I don't know if Bono has time to come to MusicMatrix to write personal notes to his fans rather than using, say, Twitter.

We'll see what happens. In the meantime, I like to try to fill in the blanks like this and not just talk about up 10%, down 10%, market makers and all that blah blah blah. Yeah it's great to see the website work more and more but no one seems to want to talk about it. I just don't see paying 10 bucks a month to participate in video editing contests unless I get some real content packaged along with that, nor do I see spamming my friends to join a site for 10 bucks a month so I can make money at their expense.

They are going to have to prove themselves a bit more before they can get the likes of Lady Gaga representing them -- I can see Gaga's manager now -- you want to put your reputation on the line for an unproven website like that? Wait until youtube makes you an offer.

I'm feeling a bit verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.
