yes. if the system started doling out max sentences for all i crimes think we would do 2 things: 1. get the crooks off the streets. 2. increase the risk factor and provide a disincentive for bad behavior.

as it is now they plead guilty forfeit some money and walk away free to start over.

or maybe since the system is failing we could resort to some "mad max" justice?
