Proposed in President's Budget: $176 million
Actual funding from Congress:
$100 million for the DNA Intiative
$5 million for convicted offender analysis*
$55 million for no-suspect casework (ie, rape kits)
$30 million for building lab capacity (ie, purchasing DNA lab equipment)
$5 million for missing persons DNA programs
$5 million for criminal justice training
$10 million for the Forensic Sciences Improvement Act
*The National Institute of Justice is working to add $10 million to this program.
