Alan, I notice from your list that Oregon was among the least of the states in reported unemployment between March and August. This is interesting, since Oregon had one of the greatest unemployment rates as of last year, when things were just starting to get bad. Maybe Oregon is a leading indicator that jobless rates are slowing down.

Still, though. Those people are more than just a statistic. My heart goes out to each and every one of them. Probably the scariest thing in anyone's life is to be without the security that they've always taken for granted.
