That is completely false information and is one of the biggest myths about stock trading. Placing high sell orders on your stock does not keep anyone from borrowing your shares and is 100% pointless to do. First of all, most brokers only allow shares to be borrowed on margin accounts that have an outstanding margin blance. So if this is not the case for you, which it wont be for most people, then you have nothing to worry about.

The few brokers that do even allow for this to happen require you to file a written statement with them telling them not to allow your shares to be borrowed. Most brokers do not allow shares to be borrowed for any reason though.
