Title:
(EN) ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME

Abstract:
(EN) Disclosed is an electric double layer capacitor (200) comprising a positive electrode (206), a separator (205) and a negative electrode (207) laminated in this order in a container, wherein the space between the positive electrode (206) and the negative electrode (207) is filled with an electrolyte solution. The electrode plate of either or both of the positive electrode (206) and the negative electrode (207) is composed of a collector (201, 203), and a plurality of conductive microfibers (202, 204) which are formed upright on the surface of the collector in such a manner that one end of each microfiber is electrically connected to the collector surface. The surface side of the electrode plate is covered with the separator (205), and the electrode plate and the separator (205) are joined together by pressure bonding. Consequently, in the electric double layer capacitor which comprises conductive microfibers such as carbon nanotubes as an active material, the active material is compressed to a high density, thereby increasing the energy density.
