It isn't that there is no merit nor business opportunity for 'vanity keywords'.

It is primarily an infrastructure/network/traffic issue.

It is also a question of business priorities and 'phases' as alluded to in early Go800 PR's.

Do we want to be a B2B AND B2C company right out the door?

We have the answer to that question already.
