Why do you think I retired from Corporate America long before reaching the ripe age of 50? The book cookers and the corporate thieves... Too many of them, everywhere.
A long time ago, in one of those corporations, we were "acquired". As the deal was being signed (and already announced to the street, yet there was still a gap of some 30% between the sell price and market price), the Prez, went around and distributed a bunch of options to some of his favorite executives (no, I was never a "favorite" of anyone <g>). In my book, that was stealing from the public share holders of the acquiring company, even though, I am sure that the management of the acquiring company probably knew of that. I have seen it too much, only a small portion of those crooks end up in jail. And it could have been done legally just by offering those select execs "stay after the acquisition" bonuses, but that might have required a more "even handed approach". (g).
