wbmw: Both stocks have tracked almost identically over the last 5 years, and both are down approximately 50% over the last 5 years.

There are a number of ways to define losers. One could say that since AMD (I assume that is the "loser" that EP referred to) lost slightly more is share price over the last 5 years then it is the bigger loser. However, if you look at the total loss of wealth, Intel has cost investors a net of about 100 billion over the last 5 years, and AMD has cost investors about 1 billion. So that qualifies as a big loser. Intel is making money, and AMD is losing big money right now - so AMD is the loser there. So, both companies can easily be called losers.

Incidentally, I chose 5 years since that is typically the benchmark used to define "long-term".
