bepop...yes, bandwidth. Satellite technology is the BEST way to broadcast digital signal for a fee. This latest AT&T move is exactly the reason why SIRI will prevail over pandora and all the other BS "free" internet services for cars. As it stands now, before AT&T move to up the charges for broadband cell service, all the cell carriers charged significant fees for data plans, and now, those fees are going higher. I have to laugh when I hear the virtues of pandora in cars as a free service compared to $12/month for Sirius XM. The press keeps omitting the steep monthly charges by cell carriers for the data plans needed to bring that so-called "free" pandora radio into the car! And, now those charges are going higher. SIRI's huge investment in space is now paying off, with a huge footprint over North America for delivering digital entertainment, including just about every major sporting event and news. My point is, that this is what Malone sees for other lucrative global markets. Satellites kick ass over cell technology requiring thousands and thousands of cell towers! Sats are NOT as good for uploading, so interactive digital services are more of a challenge, but, I don't think that's critical in entertainment delivery to autos.
