I asked friends of mine in recycling to review Greensafe's website and press releases. They said it will take two-three years for a start-up operation like this to reach breakeven, and Greensafe is biting off too much with too large an initial facility before they've proven their model. The revenue expectations are significantly overstated -- both the value of the recovered metal and any revenue associated with CFL destruction. They warned of problems getting enough appliances -- both collecting from major dealers (who will throw vendors under the bus to make an extra buck) and the expensive logistics of transporting low-value irregular metal boxes by truck/train.
