And since I seem to be on the subject tonight, let me talk a little bit about Mel123.
We have no idea how much work she does behind the scenes to keep this place running. She doesn’t post all the things she does. She doesn’t complain to us about what a pain in her back side we are to her sometimes. She has never said anything about it, but anyone who just takes a moment to look around the den and the monkinars can clearly see that somebody did this. Gee, I wonder who. Whew! Glad is wasn’t me. I got to see a little, small portion of that this last weekend and just the things that she had to keep up with on a regular basis would have put down a lesser person.
And right in the middle of it all, there was a gentleman that got injured. So on top of all the other things she was orchestrating, she stopped to help this person. This took some time. Try finding a chiropractor on a Saturday in a town you are unfamiliar with. Between her and Connie, the man ended up at the hospital, got a few things to hold him over, and brought back to the hotel.
And to throw a monkey in the wrench, there was a film crew that she had to deal with on top of everything else. And she handles it all very gracefully. How much do you think she gets paid for helping all of us to prosper? And when the weekend had finally come to a close, when she could finally take a breather and relax, she stopped to talk to a den member that’s feeling a lot of pain right now. She spent quite a bit of HER time with him. Her words are what he needed to take another step forward because his pain is overwhelming right now. She truly and genuinely cares for the folks here in the den.
Anyone here know the difference between a calling and a job? They are two totally different things but look quite a bit alike. Actually, you would have a hard time telling the difference looking at it. If you have a calling, you have no choice. If you ignore it, you can’t sleep, you are stressed, it’s always bothering you if you don’t address it. You have no choice. And 99 times out of 100, there is no thanks for your efforts and folks don’t even realize you did it. Did she say this?, no. She never says a word. I have been fortunate enough to have seen this a few times. Watching Mel this weekend made me realize that her actions are a calling, not a job. She is a class act and we in the Den are very blessed to have her working behind the scenes, because this place wouldn’t be the “place to be” with out her efforts and the monkinars would be total kaos without her. Thank You Mel123. You are a true blessing to us even though we don’t tell you often enough.
