I used to pretend that I was sick the week before Christmas so that I could skip going to church with my parents to take a sneak peak at all of my unwrapped presents in my mother's walnut chest -- hey, get your mind outta the gutter...you know what I mean. It kind of ruined the excitement for Christmas day to come, though.
In hindsight, it probably wasn't worth all the fear of burning in hell for all eternity that it caused me
