You have to consider this when looking at the market and price action. On the way down, there way be MM's that want cheap shares, if it's many of them, they are likely to walk it down quick on a little or moderate selling pressure. If the majority have inventory they are holding, they will be less likely to let it go in the face of selling.

On the other side, If they have inventory, which I would infer at this point most do based on the levels we have been at recently and the selling that has occured, when buying pressure occurs and there is no retail match for the buying (when you see 20-1 hitting the ask vs. the bid for example) they will walk it up and get a better price for the inventory they hold.

This second scenario is actually a great tell, because it means shares are short or people are not selling so they must not have a huge inventory. Once the inventory gets skim you see the stop and limit shakes to get shares.

The other possiblility is that MM's without inventory that have naked sales out there, were covering at EOD to ensure delivery, another good scenrio.

This is exactly where we want to be IMHO
