Itronics estimates that approximately 50 million gallons
of silver-bearing photo liquids are generated in the United
States and that about 70 percent of this is disposed to sewer
systems throughout the United States. The balance is
captured and hauled for hazardous waste disposal, or sent to
Itronics for use in silver and fertilizer production.
Using Itronics’ technology, 50 million gallons of
silver-bearing photo liquids are sufficient to manufacture
100 million gallons of GOLD’n GRO fertilizers, or 500,000
tons. At current aggregate GOLD’n GRO pricing, this is a
$660 million potential. In 2009 Itronics sold about 2,000
tons of GOLD’n GRO liquid fertilizers, 0.4 percent of the
potential. This demonstrates that, even with large annual
increases in fertilizer sales, there is an abundant supply of
silver-bearing photo liquids.
The 50 million gallons of silver-bearing photo liquids
contains about 10 million ounces of silver; today worth
about $150 million. In 2009 Itronics produced about
48,000 ounces of silver which was sold for $686,000.
Silver output is expected to increase significantly after
installation of new technology which will increase per melt
silver refining capacity by up to 10 times with no increase in
per melt cost (our Stage 1 silver refinery expansion). Stage
2 is planned for future expansion for another 10 times
increase in silver refining capacity. Itronics expects to gain
market share because of its low cost technology.
